What to Expect
We want to make visiting Austin Hills Church an enjoyable experience, easy, stress-free, and relaxing. We designed Austin Hills Church to be “user-friendly” for people, whatever their background, including those who have never been to church before. If I were visiting a new church for the first time, I’d like to know what to expect, so here’s a brief overview.
When You Arrive
Parking
When you arrive at Austin Hills Church for our Sunday morning service, enter through either entrance and find a parking space in one of the two lots on the property.
Finding your way around
The main auditorium is the big building at the front of the property. Since we live in the beautiful and (mostly) sunny Hill Country of Central Texas, you’ll find some cafe tables and chairs set up on the patio outside the auditorium. It’s a great place to catch up with friends or meet new ones.
You’ll notice that everyone at Austin Hills Church is dressed comfortably, in anything from “office casual” to jeans, shorts and sandals. We’re a pretty laid back place. We take Jesus very seriously, and ourselves not so much.
Grab Some Coffee
Head into the lobby and feel free to grab coffee, tea, or a donut. If you don’t finish your beverage before the service begins, you are welcome to bring it in with you – we believe people are sacred, not buildings. Please ask anything if you have questions.
Kid’s Check-in
Kindergarten – 5th Grade
If you have kids, the greeters can point you to the check-in location in our foyer for infants through 5th grade. Children meet in the building in the back corner of the property, the one with the playground in front. We believe there is incredible power when families worship together, so children stay with the adults until the end of worship and are then dismissed with a blessing.
We take the safety of our children very seriously; all of our kids’ workers have passed state and federal background checks. We ask for mobile phone numbers of parents of infants and pre-schoolers in case we need to get in touch with you during the service.
If your kids are shy, they’re welcome to attend the adult service with you (we’ll post a warning if the day’s subject matter is adult in nature) but most kids really enjoy the kids ministry.
During the Service
Making your way into the auditorium, you’ll be greeted by a friendly face. Pick a seat where you feel most comfortable! It can be a bit chilly at times, so we have blankets on a few chairs and you’re welcome to use them.
Music & Message
The service begins with a call to worship, our opportunity to sing and declare our gratefulness to God. There is a transition to dismiss the children, a moment to greet one another or get another cup of coffee, following by a message from the Bible.
We are oriented around spiritual formation, recognizing that God wants to heal, restore, and form us.
After the Service
After the service, you’ll pick up your kids from their rooms. Church is about God and worship, but it’s also about community and friendship, so we hope people really experience warmth and friendliness at Austin Hills Church.
If the weather is decent there will almost always be kids on the playground and parents catching up. The life center of the church is the patio and nothing thrills us more than when people stay and linger – nobody wants to leave because they’re visiting with friends.
